[ORGANIZATION] stands in solidarity with Autistici/Inventati, the volunteer-run Italian communications collective designated by the United States on August 26, 2026.

Since 2001, A/I has provided movements, writers and independent projects with email, websites, mailing lists, Noblogs and other tools outside commercial surveillance infrastructure. Its history includes resisting censorship, covert police access and international server seizures while teaching communities to understand and operate their own communications systems.

The U.S. designation treats infrastructure used by radical movements as support for conduct and publications attributed to users. This threatens the distinction between a communications provider and the speech carried through it.

The temporary wind-down period ends September 25. We call upon journalists, digital-rights organizations, civil-liberties advocates, free-software communities and independent media to examine the designation, document institutional over-compliance, preserve the public historical record and oppose the criminalization of resistant communication.

This statement is independently produced and does not announce financial, technical or other coordinated services to A/I.
